That's an extremely uncommon case, so I'm just going to ignore it for now.

I have sent (to the appropriate bug) a tentative patch to convert the r128
DRM module to userland firmware loading.  Obviously I can't test it, since
I don't have the hardware, but perhaps someone else can.  An almost
identical patch should do the trick for radeon as well, so if you want to
test that.... ;-)
