Why do you need many changes?
All the packages could go in the pool and you'd just need a few extra
Packages and Release files for the new experimental sections.
The difficult bit would be creating new upload areas and autobuilds.
The autobuilds should not be a complicated as some people on this list
seem to think - all that is needed is another chroot for each
experimental section.
Automatic builds are essential for two reasons:
- making sure the package works on all architectures (otherwise it may
be in sid for a long time holding up testing)
- encouraging testers (aka developers) to use experimental. If people
don't use it then it isn't all that useful.
I don't think I like the idea of automatic propagation from experimental
to sid as suggested in some replies - it's easy enough for package
maintainers to upload/copy to sid when the time is right. They are the
people who can judge this timing the best.
