Konqueror reported 10 matches for the keyword 'patch' on the results of
searching for Dan's email address in non-archived bug reports. Judging
from the number of pages of bugs, the ratio of bugs filed to patches
submitted is not ideal*. Furthermore, a cursory glance at the bugs which
had the patch keyword reveals that the patches weren't all necessarily
submitted by Dan himself.
It is admirable for a user to submit bug reports when discovered,
presuming the user has taken the time to verify that the bug report
would not be a duplicate- however, you've got to wonder what his
motivation is: for the good of the distro, or for self-satisfaction?
* Of course, users who are unable to fix the problem and submit a patch
should not be discouraged from submitting bug reports... but it seems
from the wording of his reports that some of the bugs he could have
squashed himself.
