My suggestion is buy all the tickets together, in the same company and get a big deduction or free tickets.
To get from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre, you can
1. Take a bus (18h) - 25 USD or
2. A flight from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre - 190 USD.
