A large quantity of upstream descriptions of packages are badly worded, lack detail, have too much detail, are written for the wrong audience, or were designed to go in a man page or web site somewhere, and not in a list of thousands of packages. They can almost always be improved, though they might be a useful starting point. I have filed more bugs that I can remember on descriptions that were copied from a README, web site, or man page, and were very lacking. -- see shy jo
