The last version shipped with RedHat was in RedCrap 7.3, and that was mICQ
0.4.6. That's like 3 years old, so blame them for not keeping their stuff
uptodate. For 8.0 you have to know that it uses UTF-8 as default, and mICQ
didn't support that prior to 0.4.10 (it is, however, currently the only ICQ
client to send properly tagged UTF-8 encdoded messages to peers claiming to
understand them). That may or may not be the actual reason; it may also be
to reduce the amount of packages - RH8.0 doesn't ship any text based ICQ
client at all (not mICQ, not YSM, not vICQ, not centericq).

Yours, Rüdiger.
