It strains my credulity the above-quoted remark of mine is personally
hurtful to *anyone*. It doesn't even presume anyone's actual position,
it simply constructs a fictitious party line to which no one may
actually subscribe.

An agenda for what? Supporting the proposed GR? Kind of the nature of
the beast when making a joke about opponents of the GR, isn't it?

Is the ":-P" emoticon insufficient to mark the preceding statment as the
grumblings of a crotchety old grump, not to be taken completely
seriously?

This is a worse accusation than any I've made against any opponent of
the proposed GR, even in jest. Accusing people of
"ends-justify-any-means" thinking is not very far away from the sort of
remark that invokes Godwin.

...which is not a problem in my book if one can tell that the utterance
is unserious. However, you seem to leveling your charges with complete
sincerity. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

If the above is not meant as humor, then you are engaging in the very
practice of personal attack you claim to find abhorrent. "Scorched
earth tactics?" From a *joke*?! The mind boggles.

Is it your complaint that you are unable to recognize my jokes when you
see them?

Well, you've just done so to me, where have I done so to you?
