I think the best stuff of knoppix (which absolutely does not even start
the first process on my asus laptop, fully supported by everything since
3 years) is the idea: having a complete desktop system up in 30 seconds.
You can copy relevant packages to disk and start with a standard (not
installation) kernel. At reboot, nothing will change (you could even
leave the machine on after installation).
