Dear All, Just got my head above water and had a look at Clam AV 0.51 Debian package source. If the Clam AV database is going to be kept very up to date, then OAV-update is not needed any more, and should be removed from Debian. However, it has a modular design, and it is able to be extended to cover the new database formats, as well as pull data from multiple sources, as well as adding site-local data. Does anyone else want to step up to the table to take it over. I am sorry to have to say this, but I have no more time to maintain oav-update, and be the upstream author. Pending someone asking to take it over (I will wait 3 days), I will either orphan it, or ask for it to be removed from Debian. I will keep on maintaining nomarch (my other package), and will look at it tonight. I am planning to continue my work on email virus scanning, in support of the Linux Aid Server Project (http://www.anathoth.gen.nz/). I see my future as a Debian Maintainer working on various subsystems, and passing packages on to others. This is how I will work in the future.
