Certainly a typical Linux power user would in all likelihood want to have
both KDE and Gnome apps available in the main menu.  And such an option can
be provided for such users.

But raw newbies probably want something simple and "non-scary", at least at
first.  And having apps that look and behave slightly differently, as Gnome
and KDE apps do, might not be so good for the newbie.  Consistency is
important, especially at first.
