apt error message


I deleted the cache directory [only the archives iirc] to save space.
However apt failed to work after that. Thats understandable as it "needs"
a system directory....but what was really counter-intuitive was the error
message was something like "E: could not dequeue object" . How does that
help in conveying the actual problem in any fathomable way ?

[Also is it not possible to do a mkdir -p to just create the empty
