  No - AFAIK there is 'update-pango-aliases' command in pango package
(can't check it now - use RedHat at work ;( 

or you can tune /etc/defoma/something/pango.conf 

I have this file not managed by defoma (which lack tools for font
management) and edited by hand to match my set of fonts correctly (not
using proportional fonts for monospaced etc.)
