Might it be a good idea to enforce a naming scheme for these dynamic
settings, as contrasted with the ones supported by ifupdown itself?  Apart
from other things, this would make it possible to catch typos in standard
settings and report an error, instead of silently not doing anything.

I suppose it's too late at any rate.
