ide-scsi is a PoS, with many implementation problems. Ask the linux-kernel
list about it, if you are going to dispute this.  It will crash-and-burn
with many CDROM drivers that work just fine with ide-cd.

ide-cd is the safe bet, and should be the default. For cd writers, ide-scsi
can be specified in the kernel boot line so as to avoid ide-cd grabbing that
drive.

FYI I would both here. The Sansung CDRW works well under ide-scsi, and the
cheap-o Creative OEM crap CDROM works _only_ under ide-cd (ide-scsi will
hardware-crash the drive).
