It was difficult to find, but in
http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/old/email-archive.tmp
you can find an old archive that contains a libexec discussion from 1997,
one attempt to discuss it in Jan 1998, and the final death in Aug 1998.
I have read this up, and I suggest that everybody does it who is interested
in this matter. I was going to attempt a summary here, but I think it is
better if everybody just reads it up on their own.
