Totally off-topic (when did that ever stop anyone?) but this subject is
covered in "Free as In Freedom" a biography of RMS[1] I read recently.
Given that my only real life experience with him was when he almost bit my
head off for not saying GNU/Linux[2], this book did lot to humanize the
man in my eyes. It also made me a feel a bit sad for a man who loves
people but whose genius has pushed them away from him. Is this
idealization of abstract principles of community just a substitute for the
warmth of real community?

It's a girl! See the pictures - http://www.braincells.com/shailaja/
[1] Of course it is copylefted. It is available online at
http://www.oreilly.com/openbook/freedom/ or can be bought as a book from
O'Reilly & Associates. ISBN 0-596-00287-4
[2] And I wasn't even talking to him but another FSF volunteer. In the
middle of making a donation no less! I understand the heathens have to be
preached to but didn't Mr. McArthur-Certified Genius suspect this was a
person who already knew the party line?
