Hello! I am preparing press release of Debian Woody for Polish Debian users. We will also include full binary CD set and (as we want to get some new users that use RH/Mdk/whatever ATM) ability of the installer choice (which would be BIG adventage). Yes - the ideal goal would be to have one CD set with both installers (PGI from http://hackers.progeny.com/pgi/ and boot-floppies). Is anyone else working on sth similar? Please drop me info on how it works for you and what problems you have/what you have achieved already. But for now I am just trying to get PGI working and have one current problem and some questions (see at the bottom): I am running pgi-build with those options: --builder=greg@sente.pl --complete --tmpdir=/opt/media/pgitmp --codename=base-config --kernel-version=2.4.18-386 --pgi-mirror=ftp://ftp.pl.debian.org -o /var/data/output --build-mirror=/var/data/mirror --no-include-source I have troubles running depmod on 2.4.18 kernel (as I am running different kernel), getting this: make: Entering directory `/usr/share/pgi' make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/share/pgi/stage0' rm -r /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge mkdir -p /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules # this really sucks; I wish you could tell depmod to write to standard output cp --dereference --recursive /lib/modules/2.4.18-386 /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules sudo depmod -b /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge -F /boot/System.map-2.4.18-386 -a 2.4.18-386 depmod: can't handle sections of type 393216 /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/net/8139cp.o depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/block/paride/paride.o depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/bluetooth/hci_uart.o depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/bluetooth/hci_usb.o [..... skipped ......] depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/net/sb1000.o depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /opt/media/pgitmp/misc/depmod_kludge/lib/modules/2.4.18-386/kernel/drivers/net/smc-ultra.o make[1]: *** [/opt/media/pgitmp/misc/modules.dep] B³±d 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/pgi/stage0' make: *** [_all_recursive] B³±d 2 make: Leaving directory `/usr/share/pgi' I also have some questions/problems that arise: - Can I build woody's CDs using unstable system? (If the answer isn't "it should just build OK" - what to do to accomplish it?) - pgi-build seems to not recognize --misctmpdir and --output ! - can --output be on NFS? or is sth in there mounted on loop during the CD creation process? - If everything is OK I will want to have both installers on those CDs, maybe: * boot-floppies (a few flavours) on the first CD * PGI on the #2 CD Is it possible to do? I saw --with-debian-debootstrap option and I belive it should be used? Is it tested option? Will it work? If it's not possible with resonable amount of work - I'd like to know *now*, I'll just skip the idea of having such a great and easy installer as PGI :-( As Woody nears I am running out of time as we plan to do the press release ASAP right after the official woody release. Best regards Grzegorz Prokopski PS: I have not found better place to ask it than d-d. Branden seems to ignore my emails (he must be too busy I belive), on b-f the mail was also ignored (PGI is not their domain so I understand)... Am I alone in trying PGI? Is nobody else interested in it? ;-) I am on the list and will happily read all the answers you write ;-) (standard d-d's disclaimer: no flames please ;-)
