Well, partially. Its locale-sensibility is limited to UTF-8.
For example,
LC_CTYPE=en_US foobarterm (ISO-8859-1)
LC_CTYPE=fr_FR@euro foobarterm (ISO-8859-15)
LC_CTYPE=hu_HU foobarterm (ISO-8859-2)
LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.KOI8-R foobarterm (KOI8-R)
LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.eucJP foobarterm (EUC-JP)
all of these popular locales doesn't work well with uxterm, while
mlterm, eterm, gnome-terminal, (and rxvt-beta) work well. (The
above list is only examples. More encodings are supported.)
However, uxterm may or may not be included in the list with
such a note, I think.
