Re: error during testing upgrade destroyed partition

aptitude can log what you're doing, but unfortunately, you have to
explicitly enable the log in a configuration file. So you probably
don't have it enabled. If you have apt-listchanges installed, it might
have emailed the changelogs to root. You could check that.
