Software in contrib needs non-free software to run.
But the source of quake2 certainly is useful without the commercial game
data.

which is not true for the quake2 engine, which is certainly a nice thing
to study for programmers.
But you didn't understand completely what i was talking about;
i was considering not packaging the quake2 engine as binary, but
packaging the _source_ for developers to look at.
