Aargh -- on my system there are pixmaps in both /usr/share/icons and
/usr/share/pixmaps.
Why don't we try to get the FHS to standardise on something, say
/usr/share/icons/{pixmaps,bitmaps,misc,...}.
A simple (probably too simple) migration plan would be to have all
packages which currently put stuff in /usr/X11 move to put it in
/usr/share, maybe with symlinks from /usr/X11 if necessary using a
/usr/doc -> /usr/share/doc type technique, and then once everything's
moved, xfree can turn the directory into a symlink to /usr/share.
But I don't particularly like that idea....
