I think people are completely missing the point here. What we are
looking for is a default editor that everyone can use without having
to read any documentation. Something that is simple and intuitive.
vi and emacs type editors do not match that profile: they are both
powerful editors but you have to learn them in order to be able to
use them.
If someone has to hold your hand for 5 minutes to teach you the
basics of an editor it means the editor is too difficult for a
new user who is installing his own system and does not have help
at hand.
