Well, mostly problmes with removed functionality that I was uncertain
of how to replace. I have received some help from other parties, and
managed to get something that seems to work (but seems to be somewhat
more inefficient) on GNU C 3.0. I'll see if I can get it to work better
the day 3.0 hits i386 as a standard compiler, until then, this is just
an fix for an exotic compiler...
