   | What about, after the freeze on Woody, no libraries usng C++ be accepted
   | into the new testing (or unstable, whatever) tree unless they are
   | compiled with gcc 3.0.  All applications thus will also have to be
   | ported, since the libs they depend on will only be using gcc 3.0.  We
   | would probably need two versions of the core libraries (libstdc++) for a
   | while, though.
Unfortunately, there are some packages which won't work, to name at least two
big ones: Mico and Kde. There is a regression between 2.95.x and 3.0.x (and
it won't be fixed in 3.0.2 AFAIK) and those two projects don't compile
correctly with the 3.0.x branch (see PR3909 )

I think there was a discussion on gcc ml to work on this for the 3.0.3
release.

regards
C.
