I see no reason why:

1) gdm shouldn't be part of some "GNOME" task
2) kdm shouldn't be part of some "KDE" task
3) wdm shouldn't be part of some "PseudoSTEP/WindowMaker/GNUStep" task
4) xdm shouldn't be part of the "x-window-system" task

My remark isn't about choice either.  It's about associating a given
package with some c*******[1] in which it may belong.

[1] censorship imposed to avoid attracting the attention of a certain
armchair philosopher who would instantly derail this thread into
messages espousing his bullshit ontology
