As others have said, these are a matter of personal needs and preferences, and
as such should be able to be set on a per-user basis (which alternatives
currently cannot).

These would be better handled by the MIME system, and in fact, they already
are, and with more customization. See /etc/mailcap, and adjust ~/.mailcap to
taste.
