tarball of mailing list archives
It would be extremely useful if the Debian mailing lists, particularly
-devel and -policy) were available as gzipped tarballs for each month's
worth of mail. Such a service would minimize duplicated threads, and
hours of pouring through archives and/or messing with the search engine,
which is relatively slow, and lacks the flexibility and power of the numerous
text-manipulation tools available on a typical developer's workstation.
I notice that the xfree86 development archives are available in that format,
as well as having a WWW interface and a search engine, so this idea has
apparently been found to have some advantages.
Sorry if this is a duplicate thread ;)
