Bug#82696: project: printtool config b0rked. "no spool file found" is all thats ever printed

ran printtool as root and configued for my hp laserjet 6L printer and tried
to print a test page.  All i got was "no spool file found".  ran lpr
somefile and got the same.  actually i think this should be classified as a
release critical bug because i know of at least one other guy who has
reported this and gotten no response from the maintainer.
