I'm stating that:
a) it's a documented issue
b) nobody has ever complained about it (admitedly not a real arugment)
c) we rely on standard tools (patch and diff) which simply don't support
it

I'll close it again. Feel free to take it up with the maintainers for
patch and diff, if they start to support this dpkg-source will
automatically support it as well.
