Excuse me. Why do you think the functionality that would extend
dpkg-source's functionality in a backwards-compatible/transparent way would be
a silly kludge? I guess it can be done if correctly designed.
I did read the documentation. I have the right to disagree with it, right?
I request that the bug be reopened with a wishlist severity. If you
cannot find a solution that isn't a silly kludge perhaps it can be done
later. I promise to look into the problem if required.
