Odd 4 (figure four) - appears almost like two colons

Hi all,

I've developed an oddity - any time I see a 4 on screen the middle part
is blanked out on the console so it appears more like a colon ????????

Any ideas as to what is going on / might be wrong here ?

[OT - I've just installed my first all-PCI machine - 3dfx Voodoo3, SoundBlaster
Vibra, Tekram SCSI card and 3Com Etherlink card.  Bloody marvellous - no 
problems at all here so I now feel confident to recommend Debian to people
used to running Windows Plug 'n Pray.  A compliment to all the other developers
in that woody is proving to be the best distribution yet].

thanks for any input on the 4 problem - I (obviously) can't tell what the
readers of this email will see for 4 !!
