dpkg-deb: Too Many Arguments?

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.7.1
Severity: normal

Noticed that running dpkg-buildpackage with -ap parameter:
# dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -sgpg -k08CEC94D -ap
Makes it die with an error 'Too Many Arguments' on my
libgd1 package:

-[invoked as stated above]---------------------------------------------
dh_md5sums -plibgd-tools
dh_builddeb -plibgd-tools
dpkg-deb: building package `libgd-tools' in `../libgd-tools_1.8.3-6_i386.deb'.
/usr/bin/dpkg-buildpackage: [: too many arguments
 signfile libgd_1.8.3-6.dsc

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When I leave the -ap part out, it all works deliciously ;]

Regards,
Sander.
