Because, AFAIK, it can't. Most mailing lists won't give you the
subscriber list for fear of spammers, and the heuristics for
searching a message for "I'm not subscribed, CC to me" lines in a
message (and entering it into a database) would be too difficult to
code correctly.

Really, you should be using gnus. It's even graphical (especially in
