Well, I am not sure but in my Debian system (yet potato)
it looks as follows and fine;
nsx:~$ /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display xemacs
xemacs - status is auto.
link currently points to /usr/bin/xemacs21
/usr/bin/xemacs21 - priority -10
slave xemacs.1.gz: /usr/share/man/man1/xemacs.xemacs21.1.gz
/usr/bin/gnuclient.xemacs21 - priority -20
Current `best' version is /usr/bin/xemacs21.
nsx:~$ dpkg -l xemacs21-bin
ii xemacs21-bin 21.1.10-1 Editor and kitchen sink -- support binaries
Does not 'update-alternatives --auto xemacs' fix the problem?
Best Regards, 2000.6.13
