I have always seen mh installed in /usr/bin/mh - have a look at the mh
and nmh[1] packages in potato, for instance. I always thought that
they was too much potential for name conflicts, so it was move it
elsewhere - this is why it has a seperate directory.

What versions of mh install directly in "the user's path"?  I presume
you mean the users standard path, and not one that has been modified
to include /usr/bin/mh.

Note[1]: It has been a while since a looked at nmh (for some reason mh
is on this system). So, for all I know, there might be symlinks from
/usr/bin/* to /usr/bin/mh/*, but I doubt it.
