Well, nowdays it is. There's another active thread in debian-devel talking
about optimization of debs for pentium, etc. As in that case, using emacs to
emulate our new pico would leave many Debian-on-386SX out of it. We know
Debian works decently on very old machines (like these 386SX-20Mhz) and it'd
be a pitty to loose this "feature".
