Not quite - you are allowed to copy YaST, you're just not allowed to sell it. They provide a lot of management tools which can be a good thing if you don't know what you're doing but can be very confusing if you're experienced with Unix. Apparently, you know you're really in trouble when you're using the English language version but the error messages come up in German. They're the closest to Debian in terms of size - they ship on 6 CDs, but that does include a fair whack of commercial demos and things. The main advantages Debian has over SuSE seem to be freedom (you won't find yourself accidentally using a limited commercial demo) and more of a Unix-like feel. Just my experience - most of which has been in helping other people fix their machines. -- Mark Brown mailto:broonie@tardis.ed.ac.uk (Trying to avoid grumpiness) http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~broonie/ EUFS http://www.eusa.ed.ac.uk/societies/filmsoc/
