The lattest version (0.9.20) can be found at
www.linux-mandrake.com/lothar because detect is part of the Lothar
project.
You can find there other apps that could also be packaged.

 The Goal of the detect library is to group existing code and added
 new for hardware detection. An easy to understand API has been created.

 Detect needs a 2.2.x series kernel. It cannot cause any damage to your
 hardware as it only reads the informations from /proc.
