 as an (embrionic) non-developer, i think this proposed solution would be

 does the decision that needs to be taken now merit a vote?  i'm not
familiar enough with Debian policy.  if so, lets get this over with.
there's a hell of a lot of work to be done on potato, and this is the kind
of bullshit we associate with working in a corporate environment.

 this thread needs to taken aside and neutralised with a single gunshot to
the forehead.  leave the disposing of the body to me.
