Intent to package UPC barcode generator ; barcode

Universal Product Code (UPC) is that vertical bar "stuff"
you see on all products that you purchase. Here in the States
the actual numbers are regulated by the Uniform Code Council Inc.

Although there are MANY types of barcodes and machine readable
codes, my first package will only cover the UPC code
(11 digit + check sum). A working example can be accessed
at http://www.netnw.com/~jwest/barcode.cgi?xxxxxxxxxxxx where
xxxxxxxxxxxx is the 12 digit code you wish to create ( or
alternatively 11 digits, and it will calculate the check code).
The program will be GPL'ed.
I am looking forward to cleaning up the code, and learning how
to create a usable .deb package, man page, web interface..etc.
Please let me know if there is already such a package, or if
someone is already working on such a package.
