Okay, perhaps another thought: skip the ftp reorganization and make the
vrms package part of the default installation sets. Perhaps also change
vrms to add a short essay about what the list means to the user (and also
how to remove the package if the user so desires).

It's relatively painless to implement and doesn't add any significant
inconvenience to the user. It also makes the point. Doesn't it?
