Well, it is for initial installations (so you don't need a lot of
space on the system before installation). But the network upgrade
method is preferable to using the CDs to upgrade in the multi-CD era,
if you have the bandwidth for it... at 56k, the CDs are probably still
a winner; with a T1 I'd probably bypass the CDs except for an initial
installation.
