	Exactly. slink is the completion of the dist based on 2.0.x series
of kernels.  It is an important milestone in the development of the debian dist.
Finishing a job completely is important. hamm isn't bad but it isn't slink.
You will be glad you did. And if you skip it I think you will regret it later.
