intention to package GMT (or is it already taken ?)

some time ago there was an intention to package GMT, but there is still no such
package that i could find.

what happened to the would be maintainer ? if he has no time for it, i
volunteer to take over the package.

GMT is : Generic Mapping Tool, GMT 3.1, you can have a look at it at :

http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/gmt/

idon't know about the license yet, but i think the previous wouldbe maintainer
was in contæct with the author who agreed to fix the license, or maybe it was
already free, i don't remember ...
