libstdc++ incompatibilities

libstdc++2.8 can only be compiled with egcs-1.0.x such that the
resulting binary is compatible with the libstdc++2.8 binary found in
hamm. What does this mean for slink? Does this mean that egcs-1.0.x
has to be a part of slink as well?
