Point taken, but in this case since the Red Hat code is mostly dependent
on and mixed in with a bunch of code they don't own, it's not really
possible to change the license terms.

Red Hat probably writes only 10% or so of Gnome. Their support gives the
project a lot of momentum, since they're there every day checking stuff
into CVS and you can watch your cvs commit mailing list folder fill up.
They are also good about doing some tedious tasks like making releases,
and they provide web/ftp space, etc. But the project is clearly a free
software project, not a Red Hat project.
