nsswitch is at a lower level than PAM, and should be transparent. It
relates because passwd and group lookups with the standard functions go
through nsswitch. In a network arranged like MIT's, pam_kerberos.so could
get a username from Hesiod by simply calling getpwent().

An Hesiod NSS module is already in glibc 2.1. If you test it with 2000
users we will be eternally grateful :)
