Sure, but if it is not a default, scripts with "bashisms" will appear all the
time. Making it a default for a short pereiod would wipe out these errors
completely. Only a handful of "testers" would not make much differrence.

Well, that's what unstable is for. And problems with that can be easiliy cured
by simply changing a symlink.
That's just my opinion though.
