APT 0.1.3 installed into slink -- new FTP method
Ta da, ta da!
APT 0.1.3 has been uploaded to master and was installed into slink
this morning. This release comes with a totally rewritten FTP
module -- this time in C instead of Perl -- fixing many of the
open bugs against APT related to the FTP method. Kudos to
Adam Heath <doogie@debian.org> for his great work on the
new FTP method!
Please test out APT 0.1.3 as much as you can; it should be on
your local mirrors soon.
A known problem with this new version is that proxies are no longer
supported with the FTP method as they were with the Perl method; this
is planned to be fixed soon.
Also, the infamous 'cannot hit "Z" to background when dpkg is
configuring a package' bug has been fixed -- but for some reason,
control-Z still doesn't work while dpkg is configuring a
package. We're working on this one too.
Congrats to everyone who's helped with APT!
Ben
