gcc 2.7.2.3-4 miscompiles libc6 2.0.7pre1-4

Hi:
	I've just tried to compile 2.0.7pre1-4, i.e., the current version of
libc6 in hamm, and it crashes in the same way as reported in 22292.  We must
get this sorted out before hamm is released.
